Travel Tuesday: Thomasville, Georgia

Back in March, my mom and I decided to take a day trip over to Thomasville, Georgia, during my spring break.  It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from here and only about 20 minutes north of Tallahassee, where my sister lives.  While she was in class, we explored Thomasville and then met up with her to shop and eat in the evening.

Thomasville is a picturesque south Georgia town.  Tiny, but charming.  The primary attraction of the city is its beautiful plantation home:  Pebble Hill.  This trip was my second visit to Pebble Hill, but it definitely won't be my last.  I love walking through the house and learning the history of the home, but, even more than that, I just enjoy walking the grounds and exploring the gardens, barn, and sprawling oak trees.

Stable and barn area -- they hold a lot of weddings here in the courtyard

After we spent a few hours touring and meandering, we headed into town to grab a quick lunch.  We had already planned out exactly where we were going to eat, but, because we spent so much time at the plantation, we missed the 2:00 lunch time deadline for most of the downtown restaurants.  It was such a blessing in disguise, however, because we ended up eating at a place called George & Louie's.  It was complete perfection!

 Our appetizer:  fried green tomatoes

Mom and I both ordered the fried shrimp with cheese grits

If you ever find yourself in southwest Georgia, I highly recommend stopping by Thomasville to look around.  There were also, what looked like, a few really cute downtown boutiques, but we didn't have a chance to visit any.  I'm planning another trip back really soon!

Sunday Social

1.  What is your favorite thing about spring?

The bright colors, probably.  I'm really a total fall kinda girl, but I do love when the colors start brightening up.  Like my nail polish, for instance.  Right now, I'm wearing Trout Pout by Butter London:

2.  What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?

Well, I've definitely never grown them, and I don't even remember receiving them, but my favorite flower is the hydrangea.  I do love a good bouquet of roses, though.  I've never grown those, either, but my grandpa grows them in his backyard, and they are so beautiful.

3.  What is your favorite nail polish color?

I honestly didn't know this was one of the questions when I answered #1.  Haha...  Even though I do love Trout Pout, my favorite color ever is Blowing Raspberries by Butter London.  It's this great hot pink/bright red color.  Kinda hard to describe, but it's beautiful on.  It's a pretty transitional color, too.  It works for about any season.

4.  What is your favorite outdoor activity?

I really like biking.  This is the perfect time of year to go, too.  Summer is wayyy too hot here.  You have to be a crazy person to be outside, so spring and fall are my favorite times to be outdoors.  I become a hermit in the summer.  No joke, y'all.

5.  Do you have any fun spring plans?

Well, since this is my spring break, I plan to head to Atlanta with friends for a few days and visit Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, GA, with my mom.  I also have a fun baby shower to host in a few weeks for my sweet friend Karen.  And...I'll be heading up to see Taylor Swift on her Red Tour in mid-April.  I know... I'm officially 13 years old.

Other than that, I'll be counting down the last 9 weeks of this school year and waiting for SUMMER BREAK!!!  Teachers are far more excited about break than the kids.

Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty!!

Not to be overly dramatic, but today kicks off one of the most exciting times of the year:

Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty SALE!!

I have been counting down the days to this sale for months.  Two of my favorite beauty products are considerably marked down, and I've been waiting since the last time this sale rolled around to repurchase any of my must-have items.  There are great deals each week, but my favorite are marked down during week one.  Yay!!  Here's a peek at this week's sale items:

On Tuesday, Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara is marked down from $19 to $10.  This is the best mascara I have ever used, and I've shopped around a lot.  In fact, after I started using this stuff, I chunked my lash curler and used this exclusively.  It curls and coats perfectly with zero flakes.  Like ever.

When Friday rolls around, I'll be picking up some new spring polishes from Butter London.  I posted about my love for Butter London here.  I'm pretty picky about my polishes.  They have to go on at just the right texture, or I get frustrated and throw them out.  I've never bought a Butter London that I didn't completely love.  Downside??  They are ridiculously expensive.  I just can't stomach spending $15 for nail polish, so I wait until Ulta's deal rolls around to stock up.  Are they still a bit pricey?  Yup.  But, $9 is better than $15, so I take what I can get.  These are the colors I plan to purchase at the end of the week:

I think there is a limit of two per day throughout the sale, so I'll have to narrow it down, but I'm loving these.  Can you tell I'm a bit traditional when it comes to my nails??

Here are the advertisements for the other two weeks:
