Nautical Chevron Wreath

It's no secret that Pinterest has become my new best friend.  Those of you that have stuck around for a while know that I post regularly on my love for Pinterest finds.  I've also hinted that it has helped to inspire my inner-"crafter."  I'm being totally genuine when I say that I don't have a creative bone in my body.  However, I have (kinda sorta) learned how to steal bits and pieces of ideas and make them my own.  That has to count for something, right?

I've also learned over the past few years that Mom loves a good wreath.  I've made her several recently, but I knew that she was lacking in a general outdoor summer wreath.  So, when I couldn't decide on a decent Mother's Day gift, I turned to Pinterest for a little help.

I knew that I wanted the background of the wreath to be burlap, and I wanted it to match my parents' blue/gray columns on the front porch.  I saw an adorable nautical-themed wreath that sort of tied all my thoughts together.  Plus, I knew she had nothing at all like it.

After a bit of perusing (okay, two hours of perusing) the aisles of Hobby Lobby, I finally settled on all the parts and pieces.  And, this is what I came up with:

Nautical Chevron Wreath

She was happy, and I was happy that she was happy.  What more can you ask for on Mother's Day?  Ours was family-filled, relaxing, and super special.  I hope yours was, too!  And to all my Mama readers, Happy (belated) Mother's Day!

Oh, How Pinteresting...Round ??

It's Wednesday, which means it's time again for one of my favorite link-ups!  Normally, I try to post my Pinterest finds by theme.  WARNING:  There is no rhyme or reason to these pins.  They are just a few of my recent favorite.  Be sure to follow me on Pinterest (link in sidebar)!

Things Are Looking Up

T-minus 2 days until I am officially on Spring Break!  There is no doubt in my mind that teachers look more forward to vacation time than the kids.  Don't get me wrong.  We love the little boogers, but, sometimes, we need a break.  You know the old saying, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder?"  It couldn't be more true.  I always feel like I come back from Spring Break a better teacher, pumped and ready to end the year strong.  Let's hope this year is no different!!

I'm linking up with Jamie from This Kind of Love again for What I'm Loving Wednesday and with Michelle at The Vintage Apple for Oh, How Pinteresting!

This week, I'm loving the fact that I've planned a last minute trip to Atlanta to hangout with two of my favorite people over Spring Break!  We don't have a ton of things planned to do, yet.  Mostly, we'll just be enjoying each other's company.  Plus, I'll get to spend car time with my best friend there and back.  Traveling in the car with her is half the fun!  Can't wait!!

We do have plans to visit Stone Mountain one day.

I'm also loving that my mom and I are going to take a day trip one day next week to Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, Georgia.  I've been before and talked it up so much that she decided she had to see it for herself.  The house is nice and fun to tour, but the property and barn are what really drew me in.  It's a really popular place to hold weddings, and, although I'm no where close, a girl can dream a little, right?

I'm loving that the plans for my friend Karen's baby shower are coming together perfectly!  Here are a few inspiration pictures:

Finally, I'm loving that this little blog is giving me the opportunity to get to know some truly wonderful ladies!  Y'all make my heart so happy!!  Through this community, I've managed to gain prayer partners, learn travel tips, get much-needed advice, and receive encouragement in my walk with Christ.  Thank you so much to all of you that are on this journey with me.  And, if you're not yet, I'd love to have you tag along!!

A Little DIY Inspiration After a Crazy, Lazy Week

This week has been one of those that has kinda gotten away from me.  I don't even really know what happened.  It was one of those that flew by and drug its feet at the same time...does that make any sense??  My days were crazy, so my nights were lazy.  Something like that.

Anywho...if you've been around here long enough (which isn't a very long time), you may have noticed that I'm just a teensy-weensy bit addicted to Pinterest.  Quite honestly, there is no better way that I can envision unwinding after a busy day.  My mom and sister are both pretty avid pinners, too, and I'm starting to suspect that my mom likes to stalk my Pinterest boards.  I say that because I have to be careful about pinning DIY projects.  If she sees something like she likes, she immediately tries to coax me into recreating it for her.  I have a sneaking suspicion that she's far more talented and capable than she gives herself credit for.  That's besides the point.

Thankfully, she has a daughter that typically enjoys a good DIY craft and is happy to oblige.  I have to say that because I'm pretty sure she stalks my blog, too.  Love you, Mom!

The other day, I found this on Pinterest:

How cute is that??  I love that it is perfect for Spring, and it looks pretty easy.  I've made just a regular looped burlap wreath for her before, so I'm going to attempt to deconstruct that one just a bit to add a few elements like this one.  Plus, she ordered herself a wooden monogram, and had my dad paint it, that I'll be attaching to the wreath once it's finished.  This will all go down sometime today or tomorrow.  When it's complete, I'll be sure to post the final product.

Wish me luck!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  T-minus 14 days till my Spring Break kicks off.  I'm getting so jealous reading everyone else's SB posts.  Ready to start my own adventures!!
